Michael McCarthy, 2393607, Private, 1st central Ontario regiment, 75th Battalion, Canadian Infantry. Died of wounds 3 September 1918. Buried Ligny-St. Flochel British Cemetery, Averdoingt, France.

David Roche, 1089, Private, 6th Australian Infantry Battalion, Australian Imperial Force. Killed in action 25 April 1915. Final resting place unknown. Name listed on Panel 27 of the Memorial. Lone Pine Cemetery and Memorial Gallipoli, Çanakkale, Turkey.

Peter Roche, Able Seaman, S.S. ‘Australdale’ (Brisbane), Mercantile Marine. Drowned, as a result of an attack by an enemy submarine, 19th Oct., 1917. Commemorated Tower Hill Memorial London Borough of Tower Hamlets, Greater London, England. Brother to David Roche, 1089, Private, 6th Australian Infantry Battalion, Australian Imperial Force, both born in Whitegate.

Patrick Ronayne, (Midleton memorial Wall) R.F.A. ‘Francol’, Mercantile Marine Reserve. Patrick was one of five men drowned when their boat capsized at Pembroke Dock on 27 December 1919. Buried at Pembroke Dock (Llanion) Cemetery Pembrokeshire, Wales.

Edmond Smith, 142244, Chief Stoker, H.M.S ‘Colleen’, Royal Navy. Died 3 April 1919 and buried Corkbeg, Whitegate.

John Patrick Stephens, K22261, Stoker 1st Class, H.M.S. ‘Vivid II’, Royal Navy. Discharged on 7 May1915, Invalided from the Navy with Pulmonary Tuberculosis. Died in the presents of his father Samuel John Stephens (an army pensioner, ex-Sapper, Royal Engineers) on the 6 May 1916, Whitegate County Cork. Put forward to the 'In from the Cold Project' on 2November 2020 and accepted. Grave presently unknown.

Herbert Hawkins Smyth, (Whitegate memorial) 2nd Lieutenant, Prince of Wales's Leinster Regiment (Royal Canadians). Killed in action 12 April 1917, Lievin Communal Cemetery Extension, Lievin, Departement du Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France.

William Smyth, 184644, Able Seaman, H.M.S. ‘Fury’, Royal Navy. Died 13 August 1915 and buried Ford Park Cemetery, Plymouth, Plymouth Unitary Authority, Devon, England.

William Sullivan, 171373, Petty Officer Stoker, H.M.S. ‘Prince’, Royal Navy. Died 14 May 1917 and buried Saint Kentigerns Cemetery, Glasgow, Glasgow City, Scotland.

George Wafer, 171366, Petty Officer Stoker, H.M.S. ‘Vivid II’, Royal Navy. Discharged 5 August 1915, invalided from the navy with Stricture Urethra Cystitis. Died at Guileen, County Cork from Dilation of the Heart 16 October1917. Grave presently unknown. Brother of 220997, Leading Stoker, Thomas Wafer casualty at the Sea Battle of Jutland.

James Walsh, 123514, Senior Petty Officer, H.M.S ‘Express of India’, Royal Navy. Invalided from the navy 4 August1915. Died Midleton Workhouse 25 March 1918, Burial unknown.

Thomas York, (Whitegate memorial) Ship’s Cook S.S. ‘Ludgate’ (London), Mercantile Marine. Died on the 26th July, 1917 as a result of an attack by an enemy submarine two miles south Galley Head, Cork. Commemorated Tower Hill Memorial, Tower Hill, London EC3N 4DH, United Kingdom. The Tower Hill Memorial commemorates men and women of the Merchant Navy and Fishing Fleets who died in both World Wars and who have no known grave.
